Subprocessors

The short list of trusted providers behind Cognos — what each does, what it may handle, and where.

Last updated 2 July 2026

Running Cognos takes a handful of specialist providers — for hosting, backups, account emails, payments, delivering the website and the AI itself. We keep the list short on purpose.

This page names every provider we rely on, what it does and what it may handle. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains the wider picture.

1How to read this list

Not every provider sees the same thing. The important difference is between the ones that only ever handle data in a form we can’t read, and the AI providers that briefly work with your message while they answer.

  • hosting and backup providers mainly handle stored data that stays locked, plus technical details like timestamps
  • the payments provider handles payment and invoice details
  • the email provider handles your email address and the emails we send you
  • AI providers work with your message and its answer while the AI is responding — the one moment your message is readable, and it’s never kept afterwards

Whatever a provider is doing, your saved chat history always stays locked in storage, in a form Cognos can’t read.

3Our commitments

We don’t let any provider sell Cognos user data or use it for advertising.

We require the AI providers used with Cognos not to use Cognos chats to train their models. Exact retention and routing depend on the provider and the region you choose.

Where the law requires it, we put agreements in place with these providers, including data-processing agreements and protections for any data handled outside Switzerland or the EU.

This list changes as Cognos grows. When it does, we update this page. Questions? Email privacy@cognos.io.
